Anna Portnoy, DVM

Chief of Staff

My path to veterinary medicine was guided by heart, curiosity, and a lifelong love of animals. I have loved cows since I was a child, and after what I jokingly call a “midlife crisis,” I decided to follow that passion all the way to veterinary school. I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College, and I strive to bring a thoughtful, compassionate approach to every patient I see.

When I walk into an exam room, my goal is simple: be kind, practice good medicine, and truly listen. I believe the best care happens when clients feel heard, supported, and confident in the plan for their pet. Answering questions, easing worries, and creating a calm, respectful experience for both pets and their people are central to how I practice medicine. My personal philosophy reflects that same spirit wear life like a loose garment, and above all, be kind.

Outside of the hospital, my life is grounded in the same values that guide my work. I live on a farm, surrounded by family, animals, nature, and the simple joys that keep me connected to what matters most. Whether I’m spending time with my family or tending to the animals that share my home, I’m constantly reminded of the deep bond between people and animals. The ocean, music, hiking, live concerts, and cheering on the Red Sox all bring balance to my days. As I like to say, “let there be songs to fill the air.”
